The Six Nations is a highlight of the rugby calendar, when six of the best teams from Europe battle it out in the hopes of winning that coveted trophy. For the last two years, England have claimed victory at this tournament, and a grand slam in 2016, but their loss to Ireland in the 2017 tournament put pay to their hopes of a second grand slam victory and beating New Zealand’s record of most consecutive wins.

Last year’s tournament saw Ireland take second place with France coming in third. It was not, however, a great tournament for the Welsh side as they finished in fifth place only winning two of their five games. The 2017 championship influenced the world rankings, as we saw Wales drop from fifth to eighth, the Scottish side were more successful as they moved from seventh place up to fifth, whilst Ireland and England kept their positions in fourth and second respectively.

With the 2018 tournament fixtures confirmed we are now looking ahead to what this year’s championship will have in store. The opening match will be Wales against Scotland, last time these two met it was at Murrayfield, where the Scottish side scored a 29-13 victory in front of their home crowd. Wales will be looking for a successful start to the tournament in the hope of regaining their standing in the world rankings.

England’s first game will be away to Italy, where they will hope to make a good start to the championship. Although one of the most anticipated games will be between England and Ireland when they face each other at Twickenham, the home of England rugby. As the final game to the tournament, it will be a thrilling clash between these two sides, and a game that could determine the winner of the tournament.

It is set to be an exhilarating championship and we don’t want you to miss a moment of the action.
