With Silverstone at full capacity The Green Room returned to the F1 British Grand Prix.

The sun was shining and Silverstone was once again full of F1 fans ready to watch their favourite drivers take to the iconic track. With the introduction of the F1 sprint race on Saturday, the grid was shaken up and crowd favourite Lewis Hamilton lost his pole position from the Friday qualifying session to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. The Green Room was back to witness all the race action with some brilliant hospitality and entertainment off track too.

Once guests had arrived and were treated to a buffet breakfast our Green Room host Mark Durden-Smith took to the stage for a Q&A session, and even though we couldn’t have friend of The Green Room Natalie Pinkham join us in person she did join us virtually live from the paddocks! However F1 legend Johnny Herbert was there in person to give guests his thoughts on the new sprint race format, his predictions for the race and what we can expect next year following the launch of the new 2022 car.

It wasn’t just guests who had some questions for Johnny, we were joined by Mike and Zara Tindall who quizzed our formula 1 expert too!

On the trackside terraces outside The Green Room we were treated to 70th-anniversary celebrations which saw a parade of cars from across the decades, including Charles LeClerc driving Ferrari’s first-ever F1 race-winning car. Guests made their way back inside for lunch which started with a selection of British charcuterie, Smoked duck breast and London cured Hot smoked salmon followed by a curry bar and carvery station.

Before the race was about to get underway we were joined by racing driver Martin Donnelly with Johnny Herbert to hear about their time as drivers. Followed by a brilliant display from the Red Arrows who entertained the crowds with their incredible stunts.

Finally, it was time for the main event, and what a dramatic opening lap it was. Max lead but Lewis was determined to overtake for the lead, a slight touch as they cam into Copse corner sent Max into the tyre barries which resulted in a red flag. Once the race was back underway Ferrari’s Charles LeClerc lead most of the race, but despite a 10-second penalty Lewis Hamilton managed to take the lead in the final few laps and go on to win the race as fans cheered him on from the grandstands.

We can’t wait to welcome guests back to our Green Room motorsport events including our yacht hospitality for the F1 Monaco GP and of course the F1 British GP at Silverstone in 2022.
