Everyone loves an excuse to dress up for the races but have you ever wondered what the exact dress code is? Worry not, this is where we step in to make sure you’re up-to-date for your visit to the Epsom Derby Festival.

The Derby Festival is known for its colourful fashion and iconic looks, with men and women alike vying to be the most eye-catching. The occasion is a great excuse to dress to look and feel your very best on your special day out. Generally, the grounds discourage any offensive or inappropriate fancy dress, or any sports kits with team colours.

The Queen Elizabeth II Stand Dress Code

(Derby Suite & Chex Roux at Blue Riband)

Named after Queen Elizabeth 11, the Queen’s Stand is one of the most prestigious viewing areas at Epsom. This stand provides an elevated and exclusive vantage point for watching the races, offering not only excellent views of the track but also exclusive amenities and hospitality services. The Queen’s Stand typically attracts high-profile guests, and its facilities often include dining areas, bars, and private boxes, providing a luxurious and comfortable experience.

Therefore, the dress code in this section is more exacting. Below we have written guidance on dressing in the Queen’s Stand.

Ladies’ Day

– Gentlemen must wear a jacket, collar and tie
– Ladies are asked to wear a fascinator or hat

Grandstand Dress Code

(Silks Pavilion, Tattenham Straight Suite, The Winning Post, Downs View Suite, Private Boxes)

Set in the heart of the action, the Grandstand is the largest stand and offers a more relaxed dress code. There is no official dress code in the Grandstand enclosure at The Derby Festival, however, this doesn’t mean dressing up isn’t necessary. In fact, you will find that most people will be dressed up here, especially on Ladies’ and Derby days.

Ladies’ Day & Derby Day
