In Focus: Ireland v England inside The Green Room

This weekend The Green Room moved to the Aviva stadium in Dublin, where it was the turn of Ireland to play England in their final match of the Six Nations tournament. England made their way to Dublin as Six Nations champions for a second year running but were looking for a grand slam victory.

As our VIP guests arrived in Irelands Green Room for the first time they were treated to a champagne reception before taking to their seats ready for the entertainment. Fronting the panel over the weekend we had Hospitality Finder ambassadors Lawrence Dallaglio and Mike Tindall, who were joined by the Irish legend that is former Irish Rugby Player Shane Bryne.

As is Green Room custom, the panel entertained the guests with tales from their rugby days and gave their insight into how they thought England and Ireland would fare in the match in addition to both the team’s performance in the Six Nations. Our guests enjoyed the panel’s discussion - hosted by the superb Mark Durden-Smith - whilst enjoying their sumptuous three-course meal.

After the 3-hour pre-match hospitality ended, the guests made their way to their seats to enjoy the match. It was a fiercely competitive game in which the only try scored was by Irelands Iain Henderson which was then converted by Johnny Sexton.

The Irish team had a strong defence making it difficult for England, leaving the home team 10-3 up at half time. The second half showed the England side to be stronger but Ireland dominated the possession and ended the game with a 13-9 victory, putting a stop to England’s hopes of a Grand Slam.

Once England had lifted the Six Nations trophy for the second year in a row our VIP guests made their way back to The Green Room for a cheese-board and post-match tea. They were then treated to post-match player appearances from Ireland and Leinster Rugby players Tadhg Furlong and Devin Toner, to give their review on the match.

To round off a great day one lucky winner won our Green Room prize draw of two VIP tickets to see England play Samoa at Twickenham in the Autumn Internationals.

If you want to experience The Green Room then have a look at our Rugby page for its return to Twickenham this autumn.
