England 28 - 31 South Africa

Another big game for England over the weekend as they took on the mighty Springboks. After their defeat to the All Blacks last week England were back at Twickenham looking for a win.

South Africa also suffered a loss last weekend when they battled against Wales at the Millennium Stadium so the competition was set to be tough from both sides.

The day started off with complimentary glasses of Champagne for our guests as they arrived in their hospitality suites. Beaming hostesses escorted our VIP guests to their tables ready for some pre-match analysis from resident MC’s and former Bath players, Gareth Chilcott and David Trick.

Alongside Gareth and David, our VIP guests were treated to a Q&A session from All Blacks legend Sean Fitzpatrick before the match began. Sean provided plenty of his own on-pitch experience along with his prediction for the match’s full time score.

As Sean left the stage our guests were treated to a sumptuous four course lunch and enjoyed their complimentary drinks as part of their pre-match hospitality. Rugby legends didn’t stop there as Matt Dawson took to the stage to give guests his thoughts on the match ahead along with his prediction on the score. Former England captain Martin Corry also stopped by the Orchard Enclosure to enjoy a drink with guests.

Soon enough it was time for the match to begin and to chant ‘Swing Low’ around the stadium. Our guests made their way to their VIP seats offering the best views to watch the match.

In true English fashion, rain made its way across London to Twickenham which made the match even more challenging for the two contenders.

Within 15 minutes of the first half, England were 10-0 down to the Springboks but spirits didn’t dampen in the stadium as cheers of support from the home fans were heard all throughout the entirety of the match.

At half time the score swayed towards South Africa as they led with 13 points to England’s 6.

England trailed behind the Springboks by 14 points early in the second half but England responded with back-to-back tries to fight back. Despite their best efforts, unfortunately England fell to their fifth consecutive loss again South Africa.

Frowns and sad faces were soon turned into laughs as post-match analysis from England players Joe Marler and Rob Webber lifted spirits in the Orchard Enclosure hospitality suites. Our competition winners were also announced after the game as guests had the chance to win 2 VIP tickets to see music legends The Who at the O2 Arena this December.
