The 139th Open Golf Championship Sunday

Golf

ST ANDREWS - 18 July 2010

The Open Championship celebrates its 150th anniversary and to mark this historic occasion the championship returns to the home of golf at the old course St Andrews.

The Open was first played on the Old Course back in 1873. This will be the 28th time the championship has been contested over the Old Course at St Andrews with past winners like Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros and Nick Faldo. St Andrews

St Andrews is known worldwide as the "home of golf". This is in part because the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, founded in 1754, exercises legislative authority over the game worldwide, and also because it is the most frequent venue for The Open Championship, the oldest of golf's four major championships.
